CAT Society teaches us that we should deny ourselves what we really want. Maybe this is a good thing. We learn to put our families first, our children, our parents, our responsibilities. However, don't you think we take this too far? How many times have you talked yourself out of what you really want, and have let the voice of your mother or hairy old Aunt Gratypus dictate your choices. You didn't get the sizzling-hot bottle-blue shirt that drew you like a moth to flame. You settled for the "practical" option, and went for the dull, boring one you never wear. You look at it, but, like a reflex, you tell yourself "No, I can't buy the first thing I see. I need to look around and see what else there is." This is all well and good - to a point. Society teaches we should deny ourselves what we really want. I say this - Teach yourself to consider what would happen if you gave yourself what you really want. You may surprise yourself.
DIAMOND RING Feeling like an outcast today? It is useless to try to conform. You must seek your true essence and let it flower. It will either attract or repel people - both options are desirable. Don't waste your time trying to win over the people who are repelled by your essence. The sooner you identify the places where you don't have much chance, the better. You can start to play strategically. Keep your energy pure. Keep it positive. What's your mantra? "I know my essence, and it is FABULOUS!!!" Say that even if you don't have a clue what on earth your essence might be. Say it even if you don't really believe in "essence" and you prefer to believe that your persona is an ever-morphing construct, governed by societal mores, expectations, and group-induced suasion. Smile. That's probably enough.
SATIN GLOVE Who are you trying to sell yourself to? Or, better - how do you go about "selling"? Are you giving yourself an image facelift? Who is it for? Hey - wait a minute. Audience analysis is good, in every case but this one. We're talking about transforming your image from inside out. Stop obsessing about the individual you're thinking about. Besides, in some cultures, that's called stalking. Don't carve yourself into the image you think that person expects to see. Be radiant. Groove on that inner glow. But, how do I get that "inner glow"? When you wake up each day, get up, look in the mirror, and breathe deeply. As you exhale, say, "This is the essence of ME and it is FABULOUS." A tad narcissistic? No. Not at all. What you are reminding yourself is that each and every one of us has a unique essence, and a unique beauty.
DEAD FISH Everything worth going for has its hazing phase. Temporary discomfort is something that makes people look back fondly upon their shared past. Today you will be aware of the hazing you are either experiencing now or have suffered in the past. You feel the surges of hazing emotions - anger, pain, shame. You do not feel redemptive energy - at least not yet.
ROSE OR BEAUTIFUL FLOWER Finances are funny things. You seek equilibrium. Your byword is balance. But, finances flow - they do not stay still. How do you understand that in terms of equilibrium? It's a question of keeping pore pressure under control. The pipeline does not explode if the flow and pressure are in equilibrium. Your journey is smooth, elliptical, and unimpeded by corrosion or scale. Financially speaking, you are awkwardly edging out of the nest. Fly, dear, fly.
SHOVEL The call to prayer you feel ringing in your head is life's wake-up call. You're not a dog. You're not a cat. You're a sentient being named "Human" and as such you have a moral obligation to speak, see, and lead. Walk into the fresh air. Breathe deep. Fill those lungs! You are the apotheosis of life's reversals. You are learning to wrap the malleable metal of failure into a shiny bauble to sell as though it were a smooth 50s Cadillac ride to heaven.
