Unit 7: Reporting on Research

    *  Required Reading: Lannon, Chapter 25
    * Required Writing: Follow the flowchart listed here:

  • Turn in one-paragraph overview of the readings. This one paragraph should synthesize and summarize all the readings.

  • Discussion Board Participation
  • Grammar Exercises (below -- optional, unless specifically required, perhaps on an individual basis, by professor)

Details:  Please turn in a one-paragraph overview of the research that you have read. Follow the web link listed above and read the material contained there.  Then, follow the procedure as detailed in the website.  Do not write every step -- just read the steps and think about them.

Then, please turn in the one-paragraph overview.  Target:  150 words.

The following items should be kept in mind:

  • Audience analysis and needs
  • Need for a clear summary and interpretation of findings
  • Reader expectations of the document
  • Adequate but not excessive data
  • Accurate data: be sure to include the names of researchers & the place they did their work so that if anyone wants the full report, they have enough information to obtain it
  • Fully interpreted data
  • Valid conclusions and recommendations
